Meet new Grand Exalted Ruler
Robert L. Duitsman
Robert "Bob" Duitsman was born in Inglewood, CA and attended local schools including Inglewood High School, the University of Southern California, and Southwestern University School of Law in Las Angeles, receiving a Juris Doctor Degree in 1981.
He joined the Culver City, CA Lodge No. 1917 in 1989. Moving through the chairs to become Exalted Ruler in 1993–1994 and again in 1995–1996, after which he served as Lodge trustee for several years. He has been a certified Ritual judge since 1995 and has been a part of the California-Hawaii Elks Association ritual program since then. He was elected president of the California-Hawaii Elks Association in 2018.
At the Grand Lodge level, Duitsman was a member of the Grand Lodge Committee on Judiciary from 2009 to 2015, serving as chairman for the last two years of his term. He also served two years as a member of the Grand Lodge Pardon Commission and four years as a Justice of the Grand Forum.
For over 35 years Bob has been an attorney in private practice in the Culver City area, with emphasis in the areas of estate planning and parole revocation defense.
Bob met the love of his life, Beth, in 1982, and they married in 1987. They do not have any children unless you count their two dogs, Winston and Bobby.
Meet new FSEA President Tom Ludwick
Tom Ludwick was born in Warren, Ohio, July 19, 1946. He has one sister who lives in Granville, Ohio. He graduated from Howland High School in 1964 and studied engineering for two years at Purdue University. He graduated from the University of South Florida after moving to Florida in 1969 to start a family business.
He and his wife, Joyce, moved to Plant City, Fla., shortly after they were married in 1991. They have been married 28 years and have four children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
On May 23, 1994, Ludwick was initiated into Plant City Elks Lodge #1727. From 1994-1997, he served as Chaplain, Treasurer, Loyal Knight and Leading Knight; he was elected Exalted Ruler in 1997. He was the Veterans Services Vice Chairman and State Chairman for 1998-2000 and Harry-Anna Trust Fund Vice Chairman and State Chairman for 2000- 2002. He served as the Southwest Central District Vice President for 2002-2003 and District Deputy for 2003-2004. He has been a Plant City Lodge trustee for 15 years and has served as trustee chairman eight times. In 2014, he was awarded honorary life membership by his lodge for 20 years of exemplary work and fundraising. He currently serves as co-Lodge Advisor. He was State Tiler for 2005-2006. He served on the Florida State Elks Association Board of Directors from 2006-2009. From 2009-2015, he served two terms on the Florida Elks Youth Camp Board of Directors and one year as its President. He has been on the Florida Elks Properties Board of Directors for the past four years, serving as President in 2019. He served as the Florida State Elks Association Vice President at Large for 2018-2019, and at the 2018 midyear convention, he was endorsed by the Past State Presidents Advisory Committee as the State President for the Florida State Elks Association for 2019-2020. Since 1994, he has attended 19 Grand Lodge conventions.
